    Age of Empires online

    Age of Empires online
AGE OF EMPIRES ONLINE -- With over 20 million copies sold, this long-running strategy series has earned Microsoft respect, cred, and gobs of cash. Perhaps that’s why they’re releasing a new version for the smashing price of zilch. The new free game plays out much like older AoE games – create a city, build an army, deal with your neighbors -- but for a few dollars less.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon Theatrical Trailer Is Here (Updated)

The theatrical trailer for Transformers: Dark of the Moon was leaked early (such as to Peru21.pe, thanks Benn) which has lead to the early release of the trailer at Apple Trailers in glorious HD. As it proves, the early description from ElectricPrada09 was on the money. On a related note, I was able to verify that the official twitter account for DOTM is @TF3Movie. Because was dinged by the copyright police, instead of uploading to my account, thanks to Frederico for the 1080p video embed (below) of the trailer.

Update: MichaelBay.com has posted the trailer along with links to download the 720p & 1080p HD versions of the trailer.

Update 2: Hit the links below for lots of screenshots from the trailer with number of pics in parenthesis.

    New Super Mario Bros. Review

He's been reincarnated in various forms and formats but this time the Mario that we all know and love has been resurrected in true classic, plaforming action in the latest DS game, New Super Mario Bros.

New Super Mario Bros. returns to Mario's roots. We haven't seen a Mario game like this in over 15 years, and even longer if you consider that the N64 version was rendered in 3D. This version is a 2D side-scroller but it does incorporate some excellent 3D graphics. Mario is rendered in 3D as are many of the enemies and environments, although you can't explore them like you could in the N64 version.

Right from the first few seconds of play you can tell that you're in for a good time. The game just reeks of quality. It looks great, sounds like nostalgia, responds brilliantly and is great fun - and that's just the first minute of game play. You can tell that Nintendo has done their homework on this game. It retains the look and feel of the side-scrolling Super Mario Bros. series but manages to update and upgrade it with new moves, enemies, booby traps, puzzles, bonuses and secrets so that you will always be mindful that you are playing a new game and not some reheated rehash. There are plenty of nods to its heritage, including goombas, Koopas, question mark blocks and flagpole jumping at the end of levels but these are classic elements that I believe must be included to give us a sense of familiarity. Maybe this wouldn't have worked five or ten years ago, but enough time has passed so that we don't perceive these elements as hackneyed.

With today's games we tend to take the storylines too seriously, when in reality the story can't fix a terrible game. The Super Mario Bros. storyline is about as basic as they come, and we don't really expect it to be any different. Come to think of it, it doesn't need to be any different. It's all laid out for us. Are mission is to rescue to Princess from the clutches of Bowser, in this case, Bowser Jr. He's kidnapped her and taken her to the castle at the end of the first level. Once you reach that castle, Bowser Jr. takes Peaches to the next castle. This continues on through numerous levels. There are eight worlds in all, and an overhead map allows you to see all the different levels in each world. It's quite easy to get through the entire game since there are plenty of power-ups and extra lives, but you'll miss out on the whole experience if you just go barreling through the levels without stopping to smell the piranha plants.

There are a couple of hidden worlds to unlock. You should explore all areas thoroughly to find all of the unlockables, secrets, surprises and shortcuts. There is also the added challenge of collecting coins. Not only will you earn extra lives by collecting coins but there are three huge coins in each level for you to locate. This challenge isn't easy and I didn't find them all yet but I'm intrigued to return to the levels where I missed them. The replay value is tremendous if you decide that you want to find everything in the game and take part in all of the challenges.

Mario has plenty of moves this time round. He will still run, jump and stomp but there are a few more moves that give him more flexibility, and he'll need it to negotiate his way through some of the more deadly platform elements and enemies that he will encounter. A butt bounce will allow him to smash the blocks he's standing on. He can grow large enough to take up the entire screen, which allows him to smash tons of blocks and take care of smaller enemies by trampling them. A mini-mushroom will make Mario tiny and allow him to enter into small places. It will also let him walk over water. A wall bounce lets him scale walls to reach new heights or can be used if he falls into a pit.

Platforms will twist, bend, warp, shrink, expand, hover, fall, elevate and destruct. I don't think the developers left anything out. Even the ground will undulate, causing Mario to experience a rippling effect not unlike a ship on a stormy sea. Despite all these new elements and moves, the game doesn't take full advantage of the DS's unique control system - not the touch screen control system or even the dual screen for that matter. The bottom screen is basically used just to display your progress in each level. The touch feature is used almost exclusively to access your power-ups. In other words, there's nothing that you would really miss, control-wise, if this game were released on the GBA. However, the graphics are what really matters and this game would never look this great on the GBA simply because of the DS's uber-powerful processing capabilities. This version not only looks 10 times better than the Super NES version, but it's just as big. Think about that for a moment. That should tell you how far Nintendo has come.

But wait, there's more...The game also features a two-player verses mode featuring Luigi. The premise is a race of sorts, to see who can be the first to grab five stars in a platforming obstacle course. You can purposely attempt to injure the other player by banging into him. This will cause him to drop his star and allow you to claim it for yourself. This mode can be played via sharing with only one copy of the game card. The same mini-games from the Super Mario 64 DS game are also included but they can be played with other players, requiring only one copy of the game. These mini-games make better use of the touch controls but they aren't incredibly exciting.

The sounds are fantastic. It's like having an arcade in the palm of your hands. "Is that an arcade in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?" Mario has a voice in this game and repeats a few Italian-soaked clichés. Thankfully he avoids saying, "That's a spicy meat-a-ball-a."

New Super Mario Bros. is new in looks, feel and gameplay but thankfully we still get to visit Mario's old super stomping ground. This game is reason enough to purchase the DS system if, gosh forbid, none of the other killer Nintendo titles have tickled your fancy yet.

    Bavarian Hussars

As far as I can discover the Piosasque Hussars were never used on the battlefield, but only acted as a small gendarmerie unit, but I'm not letting that stop me from using it.

Uniform is taken from the Leuthen Journal and the only thing I'm not certain about is the colour of the pelisse. Figures are the classic Airfix Hussars, but mounted on the new Zvezda SYW Prussian Hussar horses.

    Dragon Age 2 Review

Bioware (one of the more respectable video game developers in the world) seems they are on steroids. They are producing one masterpiece after another. This article will talk about the Dragon Age Roleplaying game series. Bioware first began the RPG series with Dragon Age Origins. Then they released an expansion named DAO - Awakening. And now they have released Dragon Age 2. Origins was such a great RPG. Awakening divided the players, some liked it a lot, some not so much and others hated it. Dragon Age 2 comes to stir the pot really good with many improvements.

Dragon Age 2 is an incredible role playing game and many developers and gamers consider it a reference point in the RPG industry. Unfortunately not all the gamers have the same opinion. There are players who need, ask and demand for more. They are not easily satisfied. Those people have played a lot of video games and have developed a solid base of experience. They know what they want and need and what is important in a game to achieve the "wow" title. I am one of them. If I am going to pay for something I want it to make me scream with excitement. Did DAO 2 achieve that? No definitely not, but still the game is wonderful and totally worth the money and your time.

Mostly across US and Europe, many video game magazines gave really positive reviews but it did not get the the results of Origins. Some gave it titles and awards like: Editor's choice award, Best RPG of the decade, Greatest game experience and things like. Others stated they had many sleepless nights playing this game and they feel no regret about it.

On the other hand there were many magazines and reviewers who were not pleased as much as the people in the above paragraph. Some said that the area of setting was way too small, there were no noticeable characters, the combat system has been simplified too much and they created it to attract more new players in Dragon Age without respecting the old hardcore players, or at least do something to connect those two parts more smoothly. Others said that with all the improved polish the basics still need some work. My opinion on this is that a lot of old timers got really disappointed with the simplified system, I am not happy with it either.

    Crysis 2: You are here

There's a moment in Crysis 2 when a massive explosion separates you from the Marine unit you've been assisting. The fight continues, but, unusually for a video game, it continues without you. From the the distance you hear gunshots echoing off the skyscrapers, the thumping artillery occluded by steel and concrete. The smoke has drifted into the air above you, and the reflection of the streetlights casts an orange veil over the street. If not for the barely perceptible sounds of battle, you might think you were the last person in New York left alive.

Unreality intrudes. An objective pops up onscreen. REJOIN THE MARINES.* A blue arrow on your HUD leaves no question about where they are. And your surroundings, which are nothing more than a long, narrow street with no doorways, leave no doubt about how to get there. You had no control over the explosion that stranded you here, and you have barely more control over how to return to the action. You need only to hold down the left stick in the right direction.

This is standard videogame stuff. You can bemoan the lack of player agency, especially in a game whose stated goal is to let you choose your tactics for every scenario. You can resist such heavy-handed design, and run around in circles, jump up and down, fire your weapon into the air. You know that you'll hear the same faint sounds of combat for as long as you stand still, and that the battle isn't really happening. The Marines will live or die based upon whether you show up, yes -- but, like Schrodinger's cat, they will be alive and dead, firing at their enemies in perpetuity, until you cross the invisible checkpoint that springs open the box.

Daily Game Review Top 10 MMORPG List

Top MMORPGs are ranked based on my views personally. Some may be entirely objective. Pay to play, as well as free to play will be ranked together. I don't expect everyone to agree with my list, or else it wouldnt be my list. Short previews are under each screenshot for the list.

    First up:

    #10 - Aion

In-combat Screenshot Aion- Tower of Eternity
Labeled as a "wow killer." Had pretty good cover polish, but as you roll your way through the game It starts to get old quick and becomes very grindy. The fight mechanics were cool, but kinda gimmicky. All in all, Its an okay MMO, If you're into Asian grindfests.

    #9 - Maple Story

    Maple Story in-game Screen shot
One of the few Mmos that look like a side scrolling Platformer from a console game. Very very grindy when I last played it. Still fun to do with a few friends, playing alone is very boring and there isn't as many quests as I would have liked. Played it when it was new and it has always held a spot on my favorite list.

    #8 - Guild Wars

    Guild Wars Screenshot
Mixed feelings about this one, when it first came out it was great. I could get past the Instanced towns and the feel it wasn't a complete open world MMO. but with the expansions and stuff that was release, It lost a lot of foothold for me. overall, a decent game and with Guild wars 2 coming out you can expect too see the letters Guild higher on the list

    #7 -Warhammer Online

    Warhammer Online Screen
When this first came out, It was great and many thought it would be what toppled the World of Warcraft. But alas, It didn't stay that way. Great class design, the pvp was very entertaining as well as the different races were so unique from each other.

    #6 - Dungeon Fighter Online

    Dungeon Fighter Online
Think side-scrolling Devil May Cry with minotaurs/Orcs and lots of guns. Great game that you can even play with a Xbox controller. Very arcade feeling, grab a party together and take on some crazy bosses in fast action. Also has great PVP. The pvpers are really good so be prepared to get your ass kicked while you learn.

    #5 - Champions Online

    Champions Online Screenshot
I'm a sucker for super heroes and a game that lets you fully customize the way your super hero looks? Yes Please! Great Graphic style, good controls. Overall a very solid game.

    #4 - Eve

    Eve UI Shot

This is the game if you want to PVP. It's considered one of the most hardcore player vs player environments in a MMO. Some of the funniest moments in my gaming career were in EVE, watching some guy try to kill you while your fleet warps in it's priceless.

    #3 - Rift

    Rift Screen

Wow remake, but prettier. Not really much to say about it. Its just another WoW template Mmorpg. Still fun but nothing special. No real Cons No real Pros. Still enjoyable if your computer can handle the graphics. I still rate it high nonetheless and you should give it a go, It could be what you enjoy.

    #2 - LoTRo

    In-Game Screenshot of LoTRo
Love this game, It's amazing. If you wanna play a game to kill bosses and get geared up and have fun with a ton of people, play World of Warcraft. If you want to play a game to have fun while roleplaying, exploring a world previously only held to the imagination then this is the game for you. I personally use it during WoW downtime, and an extra perk is that it is free to play! even though you have to buy quest packs, but they can be purchased through in-game currency.

    #1 - World of Warcraft

Friends and I after our first Lich King kill
I know that there are those of you out there who were hoping for something, anything; else to top this chart and to be honest I would have liked that too. For so many years now WoW has been the king of the MMO castle and for some, especially those who are looking for a change, the idea that WoW will still be standing tall even three years down the road from here is a tough pill to swallow. Still a great contender and an innovator of the genre.

If you like the list check out some of our articles on Wow :

This Ocarina of Time Remake Will Bring the 3DS To The Top

A decade after its release on Nintendo 64, the time is ripe for Nintendo to refresh one of its most popular games.
There's a lot of love out there for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time; but let's be honest, it hasn't aged very well. These days, it has all the hallmarks of an N64 game, including the exceedingly blurry textures and chunky framerate. Add in that it's now close to 13 years old, and it seems that the time is ripe for a remake.
Let the record show that Nintendo is not one to cut corners on its remakes, Metroid Zero Mission and Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver being just two examples. Nintendo has a knack for bringing their classics into the modern era while retaining the core of what made them appealing in the first place, and they tend to add a nice layer of visual polish as well. From what I've seen, the upcoming remake of Ocarina of Time is much the same as the original; but in this case, the added graphical tweaks may be all it needs to bring it back to the modern era.
The visuals were the main focus of the most recent demo I saw at Nintendo's offices recently. To drive home the point that, yes, Ocarina of Time looks awful on an HD television, they had a copy of the original running on a 1080p monitor mounted on the wall when I walked in. In some ways, it's disingenuous -- the Virtual Console version looks much better than the GameCube update that they had running. If they were trying to make a point though, they made it. The 3DS version is stunning by comparison.
Basically, the team at Nintendo has kept all of the basic geometry of the original, but they've remade the models and skinned them with entirely new textures. The Deku Tree is one example of a model that has roughly the same outline as before, but looks far better thanks to rich textures that simulate the effect of bark (as opposed to the brown smudges of the original). Given the upgrades, I imagine this game would look great on Wii...provided that it were scaled to fit a television.
The effect is most striking in the two new areas shown during the demo -- Castle Town and Jabu-Jabu's Belly. It's the former that benefits the most from the upgrade, I think. Mere featureless blobs in the original, locations like the Happy Mask Shop take on new life; little details like the items sitting in the foreground in the Bazaar stand out all the more given that there was nothing to see save the shelves in the original.
Jabu-Jabu's Belly, meanwhile, reminds me a bit of Innerspace (you know, the move with Martin Short). Previously, the level looked like a swirl of multi-colored textures; it now looks like...well...a body. Buttons are now creepy knobs of flesh, and the walls have a sickly pink color. And, of course, it all looks great in 3D.
What I'm curious to see is whether Nintendo decides to add in some new content to further increase the game's value. Back in the day, Metroid Zero Mission had an entire "stealth" section following the defeat of Mother Brain, while Pokemon FireRed featured a chain of islands featuring Pokemon from the Gold/Silver generation. Naturally, the Nintendo representatives that I spoke with were coy about the inclusion of additional content. The only comment I received was that they still had "plenty more to show us" in the future.
Honestly though, I like what I've seen of Ocarina of Time enough that I would probably buy it even without content like the additional Master Quest (an added bonus released as part of the GameCube Ocarina of Time update). After all, the dungeon design and combat is just as solid as ever -- better even with the facelift, and the swordplay feels much smoother. Given the benefit of the graphical upgrade, it may just supplant Twilight Princess (yes, that Twilight Princess) as my favorite Zelda adventure. The only annoying element will be having Navi chirping in my ear constantly while I'm playing on the bus. As if she weren't irritating enough already.
Regardless, I expect Ocarina of Time to be the 3DS's first "killer app" when it rolls around in June, especially for those who have never played the orginal (I'm sure there are plenty of 12-year-olds out there who have never owned an N64). Even if you have finished Ocarina though, the substantial facelift really does add a lot to the game.
In the fine tradition of games like Super Mario All-Stars, I think we're in for another quality remake.

Is Gaming On The Rise? It Is The Number One Use Of Tablets

Okay so, what do you use your tablet for these days? Well, most of us know it is quite versatile and can be used for just about anything. Still, a good number of the first adopters are using it for a portable gaming platform. And it turns out it works great for that and it works so well in fact, that even non-gamers are getting into the action. Does this mean that gaming may get a big boost in future sales for many of those standout titles and signature games? Yes, I believe it does, and it will be a big boost for online gaming sites as well.
Now then, before you dismiss my argument here, I am not alone in making it. In fact, recently one of the more influential Slashdot posters "SoulSkill" posted an excellent summary titled Gamining Is the Most Popular Use For Tablets," (April 8, 2011) and he cited several sources including "The Guardian's Games Blog Reports" and a survey from Google's Admob for March 2011.
Yep, everyone is watching this trend. One interesting statistic quoted was that; "84% of tablet owners play games, ahead of even searching for information (78%), emailing (74%) and reading the news (61%). 56% of tablet owners use social networking services on their device, while 51% consume music and/or videos, and 46% read ebooks." And; "The survey found that 38% of respondents spend more than two hours a day using their tablets, while another 30% spend 1-2 hours."
So, is the world of online gaming finally going to break into mainstream and go on the road? I believe so, and just the other day I met a young man playing a game on his iPad at Starbucks and having a good old time. After about 15-minutes his friends showed up for a little school work study session, so he got his gaming fix between his waiting time there. Soon we will see folks playing at Dentists and Doctors Offices, at bus stops, and on their lunch breaks at the office - even professional adults, and you thought gaming was only for teenagers - think again!
Turns out that computer game sales are on the rise once again due to the recovering recession and the return of the consumer to retail, after a considerable hiatus. Retail sales for the first quarter have seen strong results and good corporate earnings which has also boosted game sales. 2011 looks to be a decent year in this sector and the Tablet portability makes it that much better. Please consider all this and think on it.

    Shadow Harvest Phantom Ops |Mediafire|

BEHIND EVERY WAR IS A TRUTH YOU WERE NEVER MEANT TO KNOW … The year is 2025 and the world is shaken by numerous conflicts over the control of dwindling natural resources. The hunger of rival warlords and dictators of mainly underdeveloped countries for advanced and highly effective weapon systems appears insatiable and the profits of the arms industry have reached new heights.

As highly advanced weapon systems, made in the USA, are sighted on various battlegrounds in Third World countries, the US government decides to send in an ISA agent, Cpt. Myra Lee, to find out how political enemies are acquiring arms that are under strict embargo.

LEGO Star Wars III Clone Wars - |Mediafire|

LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars covers seasons one and two of the popular animated series. Fans of the show get to act out their favorite moments (albeit as adorable LEGO characters), playing a variety of characters ranging from powerful Jedi to the lowliest droids. And like the other LEGO games, players have to use each character's unique abilities to overcome enemies and environmental puzzles.

The puzzles and combat in LEGO Star Wars III aren't amazing. You might occasionally be surprised at a moment where a puzzle is genuinely clever, but they mostly either held my hand entirely or made the solution so obfuscated that they were frustrating rather than rewarding to solve. Likewise, the combat isn't all that exciting with its one-button-does-everything system. But, like so much of the LEGO games design, when you combine these two relatively unexciting portions together, something strange happens: It becomes a simple, engaging game. Maybe it's because together they break up the pacing and keep you in situations that are constantly forcing you to adapt, or perhaps it's because they're so easy to understand that you can kind of zone out and lose yourself to what's going on on-screen. Either way, I became lost to the grind of the adventure. And I enjoyed it.
