    God of War 3

    Gameplay

God of War III features gameplay similar to previous installments. The player controls the character Kratos in a combination of first-person/third-person combat (including quick-time), platforming and puzzle game elements. Kratos' main weapons are the Blades of Exile (initially the Blades of Athena), with other new weapons including the Claws of Hades, the Nemean Cestus and the Nemesis Whip. The Nemean Cestus (a pair of fist gauntlets) and Item the Bow of Apollo are crucial as they are required to advance through certain stages of the game.

Unlike the previous games in the series, the primary weapons also dictate the use of magic, with each weapon having an individual magic ability: Divine Reckoning (Blades of Athena), Army of Sparta (Blades of Exile), Soul Summon (Claws of Hades), Nemean Roar (Nemean Cestus) and Nemesis Rage (Nemesis Whip). The power of each magic ability increases via upgrading the weapon to which each is linked (excluding the temporary Divine Reckoning).

Kratos also has an array of secondary weapons referred to as Items that have limited usage before needing recharging (which occurs automatically), being the Bow of Apollo, Head of Helios and Boots of Hermes.

The relics Poseidon's Trident, the Golden Fleece, and Icarus Wings that were acquired in previous games are automatically retained. The Blade of Olympus is also retained but is no longer a primary weapon, being now utilized in conjunction with the special magic feature, "The Rage of Sparta." The Rage of Sparta is the equivalent to the Rage of the Gods and Rage of the Titans from God of War and God of War II, respectively, and provides temporary invulnerability and increased attack damage. The Blade of Olympus is also used in several cut scenes to provide the finishing move on several foes and is used as the magic ability for the Blades of Athena.

Kratos also acquires another "passive" item similar to Poseidon's Trident: Hades' Soul, which allows Kratos to swim in the River Styx without being attacked by lost souls.

Health and Magic upgrades—Gorgon Eyes and Phoenix Feathers respectively—reappear, although in this instance, only three (as opposed to the original six) items need to be found for an upgrade. Minotaur Horns have also been added as a possible find and upgrade the charge for Items. All three upgrades are found in a style of chest that differs from normal Health and magic-giving chests, unlike the previous games.

Almost all upgraded weapons and magic acquired in previous games are gone at the beginning of gameplay, with Kratos only retaining the fully upgraded Blades of Athena, the Golden Fleece, Icarus Wings, and the Blade of Olympus. The Blades of Athena and Blade of Olympus are lost after the first main battle. The Blades of Athena, however, are replaced by the Blades of Exile and the Blade of Olympus is eventually recovered.

Many of the familiar combination attacks reappear, with the new additions including the combat grapple; a ranged "grab" manoeuvre that depending on the weapon can either pull Kratos towards foes or forces them away (necessary at certain points in the game, with Kratos effectively "riding" harpies across chasms), and a simple grab with bare hands that allows Kratos to use lesser foes as a battering ram. Kratos can also rapidly switch between weapons (eventually all four primary weapons) in battle and continue the same attack combination.

The sex mini-game included in previous installments returns (an encounter with goddess Aphrodite while her two servants watch), although on this occasion, it links into the story. The game also features 36 Trophies, which are awarded for Kratos' achievements (e.g. "Releasing the Floodgates" for killing Poseidon). Upon obtaining the platinum trophy, players are linked to the website, spartansstandtall.com. On May 4, 2010, it was revealed that the site was a teaser for the upcoming and second PSP title in the franchise, God of War: Ghost of Sparta.

Game director Stig Asmussen claimed that the hardware capabilities of the PlayStation 3 allow more flexibility in creating the characters of God of War III and allow for further interaction with the environment. Christer Ericson of SCE Santa Monica Studio announced on his Twitter page that God of War III has seamless loading (no Loading screens and No HDD installation requirement).

Other changes include an increase in the number of enemies onscreen, increasing from 15 to a maximum of 50. During several major battles the camera also pans out away from the fight sequence, although the player can still control Kratos while the camera is panning to add a new level of gameplay.

As with previous game installments, a challenge mode is included (seven trials called the "Challenge of Olympus"). A bonus challenge mode is included in both the Ultimate and Ultimate Trilogy Editions of the game called the "Challenge of Exile", with an extra seven challenges. A new mode called the "Combat Arena" is also included in all versions, with the player able to create their own battles and set the level of difficulty. Stig Asmussen stated more challenges may be added as downloadable content to maintain the series.

Mass Effect 2 - A Mind Blowing Action RPG

In Mass Effect 1, the game developers of this game series set the foundations to create one of the greatest franchises in the video game history. Fortunately BioWare (the company behind the game) in Mass Effect 2 created an incredible complicated scenario for a video game at least, plus the developers listened to the gaming community and fixed all those little and big things that annoyed the gamers. Furthermore they added so much content and even more good features that they extended the gameplay and the experience by far when compared to the first part of the series.

Mass Effect 2 was an avalanche for the gaming world. It got so many awards that the developers were walking around like peacocks. And that is understandable and fair enough. The scriptwriters did an amazing job. If a studio would make a movie from their script, it would skyrocketed in the charts within a week. The depth and complexity of the story is incredible. It is one of the features that makes you to keep going without thinking about anything else. BioWare has hired some of the most talented people available in the video games industry and that is unquestionable. There is no other way to create such incredibly beautiful jewels

Now, every game has a few bugs and glitches, every game has a few faults that is not possible to be avoided. Despite all the testing before the game gets published. Every computer behaves differently, there will always be some problems no matter what.Do not forget that a video game is an incredible complicated program with some polished images and colors (a really simplified explanation). But when you play Mass Effect 2 you forget about all that. Fortunately these flaws are just not enough to hamper someone' s experience. In the first part there were some bad features that made the game irritating every now and then. Gamers and buyers were listened and all those bad little things disappeared.

    Schwartzgarde (Prussian) Hussars

My other unit of Hussars this month are from my imagi-nation and represent the Schwartzgarde Hussars. Originally I had intended for the braiding to be red, but I was so pleased with the effect of the white undercoat I left it as is. Therefore the figures are very similar to the Prussian hussars.

The figures are from Zvezda and are substantially larger than the Revell equivalents.

The commander of the Swartzgarde, Count Vladislav, has his own personal standard.

    No More Theatrical Trailers?

Nelson, the admin of MichaelBay.com, provided a few stats about the trailer in regards to the website. He later commented that it seems that 1st theatrical trailer for Transformers: Dark of the Moon will also be its last.
-Trailer got downloaded & viewed on this site about 1.3 million times. That's what bought down the site for a couple of minutes.

-Bay has just finished the 3D trailer which will be featured on 'Pirates.' It's basically the same trailer with a couple new shots.

    - High res poster: http://www.michaelbay.com/images/TF3_MB2.jpg

Question from Plague1980: I know you said there will be some extra stuff added to the 3D trailer but can you tell us if there may be another trailer down the line before the movie hits? Not asking for a date or anything, just if there will be one? Thanks.

Nelson: Aside from the 3D trailer & TV ads I think this is it.
Considering how "late" this trailer came out compared to the previous two films (and most summer films really) I am not surprised. Especially since a trailer 1.5ish is planned for the end of May with Pirates 4. Once the 3D trailer comes out the movie is only 1 month away. Typically that is when the studio marketing department forgoes introducing new theatrical trailers and starts cranking out the TV spots. Revenge of the Fallen had around 18+ spots if my memory serves but I wonder if they will just as conservative with the TV ads as have been with the theatrical trailers.

As for the image with this post, the top pic is from the Superbowl spot, the bottom is from the just released trailer. Noticed a few differences? For example more spaceships, bigger & brighter boom, a building that grew a twin and other tweaks that show that even after a spot is put together Bay and the fine folks at ILM & Digital Domain are still hard at work getting the best out of each and very frame of the film. Thanks to Shane W. for the picture.

Need for Speed III: Hot Pursuit

    Gameplay
With police pursuits reintegrated into the game, Hot Pursuit's gameplay now consists of two categories. The first encompasses standard racing, as it has been in its predecessors, The Need for Speed and Need for Speed II, in which the player is allowed to race against one (including split-screen races) or seven other racers in normal circuit racers, knockouts, or tournaments (which allow the player to unlock bonus vehicles and a bonus track). The second category is dubbed the "Hot Pursuit," where police pursuits are included in races; the mode allows the player to select a standard sports car to race against a single opponent in a police-scattered track, and in the PC version only select a police variation of a sports car to pursue and stop all six racers before they complete their race. Completing both Hot Pursuit challenges in the PC version on every track of the game unlocks additional police sports cars.

Two modes were introduced in the game. The two-player split-screen mode allows two players to race using the same computer. The "Knockout" mode consists of 7 races with 8 racers on randomly chosen tracks, in which conditions such as selected difficulty, weather, and so on that the player has chosen before starting the race-series will apply. Each race consists of two laps where the driver who finishes last will be eliminated from the race lineup. All other drivers advance to the next round and carry on with the battle until there is only one player left, who technically wins the knockout competition. The game also supports network play through a serial port, modem, or IPX, and internet gaming through TCP/IP protocol. It also allowed spawn installations of itself to be installed on other machines.

Racing tracks are greatly varied, with settings ranging from wide desert canyons to homely countryside villages, as well as snow-capped mountain ranges. A particular track in the game is even host to a modern and intricate structure identified as the Electronic Arts development office. Most tracks contain one or more secret shortcuts which can dramatically alter the outcome of a race.

The game also boasts some fairly impressive graphics support for its time, allowing up to 1152 x 864 pixel x 16bit in-game resolution, wide screen support, car chrome effects, and slider settings for car detail and view distance. Motion-sensored controllers receive support as well, granting the players a more thorough gameplay experience by actually allowing them to "drive" the cars.

Car tuning is also introduced, allowing any car's handling to be customized by adjusting low or high end properties for Engine Tuning and Gear Ratios, front or back Brake Balance, slow or fast Braking Speed, soft or stiff Suspension, low or high Aerodynamics as well as Rain or Racing tires. Any of these options can be modified via sliders to offer a digit-sensitive, percentage-based effect to the selected car's overall performance. Higher-end engine and gear tuning, for example, will compromise acceleration for better tops speeds. Rear-based brake balance and slow braking speeds make for wider, drifting turns, and aerodynamics provide even higher speeds at the loss of handling.

    Pursuit system
Hot Pursuit's pursuit system has been significantly improved in terms of AI and police tactics over the first Need for Speed. The game now requires that the racer only stop near a pursuing police car to be ticketed or arrested by the police, as opposed to being overtaken by a police car, forcing the racer to pull over for the same punishments. Accordingly, police cars are now programmed with the ability to block a racer's car in an attempt to halt them. In addition, whereas the original Need for Speed would only have a single police car chasing a racer in each pursuit, Hot Pursuit allows more police cars to pursue a racer, opening up the opportunity for them to collectively ambush the racer's car. The police are only playable in the PC version. However, the police cars can be played in the PS1 version, through hacking with a GameShark.

The player must select a car in Hot Pursuit mode, which will then be replaced by a police car when the race starts. CLK-GTR, and El Niño cannot be replaced. Even when driving as a police car, the cops can still arrest the player.

Tactical aspects of the police pursuits have also been improved. The police have the ability to deploy roadblocks which has computer-controlled cop cars form a wall across the road, and spike strips which puncture the tires of a racer's car, bringing it to a halt. Both tactics present weaknesses, specifically gaps in the blockade that can be used by a racer to avoid collisions with police cars, or tire punctures from a spike strip which is only deployed on one side of the road. The player may also listen to police radio chatter on the pursuits' statuses, revealing to them the current locations of racers, police cars, as well as roadblocks and spike strips. The radio chatter also reveals reactions to specific events, such as a racer's collision with a parked police car, as well as referencing the racer's passing speed and the occurrence of the race itself ("It looks like the cars are racing!"). Furthermore, if a computer-controlled racer's driving conduct proves to be more dangerous than that of the racer's, the cops may relent their pursuit of the player and chase the AI instead.

Each track setting features unique police cars, including three sedan-based squad cars, a hatchback and two SUVs. The Chevrolet Caprice Classic (for Hometown and Country Woods and sometimes also appears on the Redrock Ridge and Lost Canyons tracks in the PS1 version only) Ford Crown Victoria (for Hometown, Country Woods, and Empire City in PC version and Atlantica and Aquatica and sometimes also appears on the Rocky Pass and Summit Tracks for the PS1 version), Eagle Talon (for Lost Canyons and Redrock Ridge for the PC version and Empire City in the PS1 version), Ford Falcon (for Atlantica and Aquatica in the PC version only), Lamborghini LM002 (For Rocky Pass and Summit in the PS1 version only) and Land Rover Discovery (for Rocky Pass and Summit in the PC version and Lost Canyons and Redrock Ridge in the PS1 version). In addition to standard police cars, a handful of Chevrolet Corvette C5 police cars are also included in each track, more equipped to engage in high-speed pursuits and capable of outperforming normal police cars. In the PS1 version, Lamborghini Diablo pursuit vehicles replace the Corvettes if Expert difficulty is selected.

Super Mario Bros. - A History

Super Mario Bros, designed and published 1985 by Nintendo for its Nintendo Entertainment System.

The video game featured gameplay that forever changed the way video games were designed. Super Mario Bros was truly a path breaking creation and was the first in its genre to feature different smooth scrolling levels, something which had never been done by other game developers. For the first time in video game, the story was given more importance and the gameplay was woven around it. Mario was loosely based on Popeye-Olive-Bluto love triangle. Bluto became a giant Gorilla and then Popeye became Mario, climbing stairs and leaping over barrels to rescue his "lady".

In its first edition, Mario the Italian plumber, must fight his arch enemy the the evil Bowser, who is the king of the Koopas and save the love of life Princess Toadstool. Luigi, Mario's fearless brother aids him in his quest in the two player mode. Mario and/or Luigi have to beat Bowser's minions and take control of the eight worlds (or levels) which comprise the Mushroom kingdom. If Mario is able to go through all the seven levels, he will be able to rescue Princess Mushroom in the eighth level.
Super Mario Bros is universally hailed as the largest selling video game to have ever been developed till date. It was in fact instrumental in making Nintendo Entertainment System such a huge success and also ended the slump in sales of video games in the United States.

    Portal 2

You can find my review of Portal 2, the least necessary Portal 2 review ever published, at thephoenix.com. High praise, naturally, which is why I say it's unnecessary. The critical consensus on this one is unusual, even in an industry where heretics are swiftly and severely punished. Don't let me be the one to dissuade you: Portal 2 is damn good.

Even so, I find myself in the strange position of liking the game a smidgen less than almost everyone else I read and talk to. Not a problem when writing for a more general audience, but on Twitter and in my own inner monologue, I focus more on the few things that separate us, rather than the numerous things that unite us. My complaints are all subjective, for what that's worth.

The biggest: no matter what kind of nutty things Valve included in the sequel -- and you know, if you've completed it, that they included some nutty goddamn stuff -- the novelty factor is still diminished, if not entirely gone. The leap from nothing to Portal 1 was much greater than the leap from Portal 1 to Portal 2, and how could it be otherwise? I felt the same way when I played Portal 2 as I did when I played Guitar Hero II and Left 4 Dead 2. It's probably the better game in every way that should matter, but its predecessor gave me a brand-new experience, and that's invaluable.

Second: The nerd bait was way overdone. Way, way overdone. Even while playing Portal 2, I thought a lot of the jokes were written with merchandising potential in mind, and nothing I've seen since then has changed my mind. The Weighted Companion Cube was a great joke in the first game, but I have a hard time believing anyone at Valve thought of selling a plush version until after gamers told them it was a winner. It's like they were throwing everything at the wall to see what stuck. (They were really pushing the "animal king" thing hard.)

    Gaming Desktop

When you're thinking about gaming desktop, you're not just thinking about awesome gaming rigs capable of displaying the most realistic visuals out there, but a machine built with every specification to suit demanding applications. Gaming PCs are configured to run the best modern games today, but they can also be used to work in high-end applications which demand a lot of hardware power to run properly. You can use a gaming desktop for a whole array of tasks, ranging from video / audio editing, graphic design, 3D design or any other application which demands a lot from your system's hardware. With this in mind, think about all the benefits you can get from owning such a machine: not only can you game hard, with stunning visuals; you can also work a lot better since it will cut up loading times and improve your work-flow quite a bit.

Usually, such a desktop will incorporate a high-end CPU, with more than one built-in core. These are great for gaming, and are also great for multitasking when your job requires it. Since most applications rely heavily on the amount of information that can be processed, having a powerful processor by your side will improve the way you work by cutting the necessary time needed to get the job done by a decent percent.
You'll be able to run most applications with a quad-core without having to suffer from system halts or choppy operation.

Countdown To Trailer Sam & Simmons Image

It seems that TFW2005 was able to get the final still from Transformers: Dark of the Moon early (supposed to come out around 11AM EST). The image joins Shockwave, Carly and the Decepticon spaceship. It shows Sam with Simmons in a wheelchair due to an injured left leg. The trailer itself will be out at 7PM on Apple Trailers.

    New Super Mario Bros. Review

He's been reincarnated in various forms and formats but this time the Mario that we all know and love has been resurrected in true classic, plaforming action in the latest DS game, New Super Mario Bros.

New Super Mario Bros. returns to Mario's roots. We haven't seen a Mario game like this in over 15 years, and even longer if you consider that the N64 version was rendered in 3D. This version is a 2D side-scroller but it does incorporate some excellent 3D graphics. Mario is rendered in 3D as are many of the enemies and environments, although you can't explore them like you could in the N64 version.

Right from the first few seconds of play you can tell that you're in for a good time. The game just reeks of quality. It looks great, sounds like nostalgia, responds brilliantly and is great fun - and that's just the first minute of game play. You can tell that Nintendo has done their homework on this game. It retains the look and feel of the side-scrolling Super Mario Bros. series but manages to update and upgrade it with new moves, enemies, booby traps, puzzles, bonuses and secrets so that you will always be mindful that you are playing a new game and not some reheated rehash. There are plenty of nods to its heritage, including goombas, Koopas, question mark blocks and flagpole jumping at the end of levels but these are classic elements that I believe must be included to give us a sense of familiarity. Maybe this wouldn't have worked five or ten years ago, but enough time has passed so that we don't perceive these elements as hackneyed.

With today's games we tend to take the storylines too seriously, when in reality the story can't fix a terrible game. The Super Mario Bros. storyline is about as basic as they come, and we don't really expect it to be any different. Come to think of it, it doesn't need to be any different. It's all laid out for us. Are mission is to rescue to Princess from the clutches of Bowser, in this case, Bowser Jr. He's kidnapped her and taken her to the castle at the end of the first level. Once you reach that castle, Bowser Jr. takes Peaches to the next castle. This continues on through numerous levels. There are eight worlds in all, and an overhead map allows you to see all the different levels in each world. It's quite easy to get through the entire game since there are plenty of power-ups and extra lives, but you'll miss out on the whole experience if you just go barreling through the levels without stopping to smell the piranha plants.

There are a couple of hidden worlds to unlock. You should explore all areas thoroughly to find all of the unlockables, secrets, surprises and shortcuts. There is also the added challenge of collecting coins. Not only will you earn extra lives by collecting coins but there are three huge coins in each level for you to locate. This challenge isn't easy and I didn't find them all yet but I'm intrigued to return to the levels where I missed them. The replay value is tremendous if you decide that you want to find everything in the game and take part in all of the challenges.

Mario has plenty of moves this time round. He will still run, jump and stomp but there are a few more moves that give him more flexibility, and he'll need it to negotiate his way through some of the more deadly platform elements and enemies that he will encounter. A butt bounce will allow him to smash the blocks he's standing on. He can grow large enough to take up the entire screen, which allows him to smash tons of blocks and take care of smaller enemies by trampling them. A mini-mushroom will make Mario tiny and allow him to enter into small places. It will also let him walk over water. A wall bounce lets him scale walls to reach new heights or can be used if he falls into a pit.

Platforms will twist, bend, warp, shrink, expand, hover, fall, elevate and destruct. I don't think the developers left anything out. Even the ground will undulate, causing Mario to experience a rippling effect not unlike a ship on a stormy sea. Despite all these new elements and moves, the game doesn't take full advantage of the DS's unique control system - not the touch screen control system or even the dual screen for that matter. The bottom screen is basically used just to display your progress in each level. The touch feature is used almost exclusively to access your power-ups. In other words, there's nothing that you would really miss, control-wise, if this game were released on the GBA. However, the graphics are what really matters and this game would never look this great on the GBA simply because of the DS's uber-powerful processing capabilities. This version not only looks 10 times better than the Super NES version, but it's just as big. Think about that for a moment. That should tell you how far Nintendo has come.

But wait, there's more...The game also features a two-player verses mode featuring Luigi. The premise is a race of sorts, to see who can be the first to grab five stars in a platforming obstacle course. You can purposely attempt to injure the other player by banging into him. This will cause him to drop his star and allow you to claim it for yourself. This mode can be played via sharing with only one copy of the game card. The same mini-games from the Super Mario 64 DS game are also included but they can be played with other players, requiring only one copy of the game. These mini-games make better use of the touch controls but they aren't incredibly exciting.

The sounds are fantastic. It's like having an arcade in the palm of your hands. "Is that an arcade in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?" Mario has a voice in this game and repeats a few Italian-soaked clichés. Thankfully he avoids saying, "That's a spicy meat-a-ball-a."

New Super Mario Bros. is new in looks, feel and gameplay but thankfully we still get to visit Mario's old super stomping ground. This game is reason enough to purchase the DS system if, gosh forbid, none of the other killer Nintendo titles have tickled your fancy yet.

    Bavarian Hussars

As far as I can discover the Piosasque Hussars were never used on the battlefield, but only acted as a small gendarmerie unit, but I'm not letting that stop me from using it.

Uniform is taken from the Leuthen Journal and the only thing I'm not certain about is the colour of the pelisse. Figures are the classic Airfix Hussars, but mounted on the new Zvezda SYW Prussian Hussar horses.

    Dragon Age 2 Review

Bioware (one of the more respectable video game developers in the world) seems they are on steroids. They are producing one masterpiece after another. This article will talk about the Dragon Age Roleplaying game series. Bioware first began the RPG series with Dragon Age Origins. Then they released an expansion named DAO - Awakening. And now they have released Dragon Age 2. Origins was such a great RPG. Awakening divided the players, some liked it a lot, some not so much and others hated it. Dragon Age 2 comes to stir the pot really good with many improvements.

Dragon Age 2 is an incredible role playing game and many developers and gamers consider it a reference point in the RPG industry. Unfortunately not all the gamers have the same opinion. There are players who need, ask and demand for more. They are not easily satisfied. Those people have played a lot of video games and have developed a solid base of experience. They know what they want and need and what is important in a game to achieve the "wow" title. I am one of them. If I am going to pay for something I want it to make me scream with excitement. Did DAO 2 achieve that? No definitely not, but still the game is wonderful and totally worth the money and your time.

Mostly across US and Europe, many video game magazines gave really positive reviews but it did not get the the results of Origins. Some gave it titles and awards like: Editor's choice award, Best RPG of the decade, Greatest game experience and things like. Others stated they had many sleepless nights playing this game and they feel no regret about it.

On the other hand there were many magazines and reviewers who were not pleased as much as the people in the above paragraph. Some said that the area of setting was way too small, there were no noticeable characters, the combat system has been simplified too much and they created it to attract more new players in Dragon Age without respecting the old hardcore players, or at least do something to connect those two parts more smoothly. Others said that with all the improved polish the basics still need some work. My opinion on this is that a lot of old timers got really disappointed with the simplified system, I am not happy with it either.

    Countdown To Trailer Spaceship Image

While it isn't a Transformer, can't say I am complaining as Apple Trailers has posted the third movie still from Transformers: Dark of the Moon before the trailer debuts Thursday at 7PM EST. The image of a Decepticon spaceship joins Shockwave and Carly stills released in the last two days. Also Apple posted the Bumblebee banner without the text and watermark. Net result is now can pick your poison on wallpaper. According to MB.com admin Nelson, a fourth and final image will be posted tomorrow at 11am EST. Thanks to Feris and Sideburn for the heads-up. Update: From the comments, the DOTM Facebook page has also posted the text-less banners for Optimus and Shockwave here but the size is a bit small.

SBK Superbike World Championship 2011 |Mediafire|

SBK 2011 will feature a brand new artistic direction, an up-to-date driving model to meet the gamers expectations following the most accurate feedback collected so far on the web, as well as a more appealing presentation and side effects, due to an overall enhancement of the whole visual impact (menus, environments, 3D objects, lighting effects and much, much more) A simple side-by-side comparison with SBK X will allow the major improvements to stand out ]

    Countdown To Trailer Carly Image

A new movie still is up on Apple Trailers to continue the countdown to the release of the trailer on Thursday at 7PM EST. Before it was Shockwave, this time it is something a little less spectacular with an image of Carly. Not a knock against Rosie Huntington-Whiteley as would say the same for any other human character but I watch Transformers for the Transformers. If the comments are any indication, there is a vocal minority *cough*trolls*cough* that seem to watch the film only for the human (aka female) characters and do not find the Transformers that important to the films. Each their own. Hopefully the last image will be more TF goodness.

On a related note, Katie R. reports that Entertainment Tonight is planning to have a Dark of the Moon report to along with the launch of the trailer. No teaser yet on ET's website but I don't recall the last time ET wasn't used to help market Transformers when a trailer is released. If anything I am surprised they are not getting a "sneak peek" for their Wednesday episode. Thanks to Sam N. who provided a DVR pic that confirms ET's plans for Thursday.

Dark of the Moon Album, Score Dated

Amazon has posted the pre-order page for Transformers: Dark of the Moon - The Album and Transformers: Dark of the Moon - The Score. The release date is June 7th, 2011. So far this is no track list or any other details beside an album cover that is probably a temporary placeholder. Both are currently priced at $16.69 but that price is going to drop. Thanks to Winston for the links.

    Sun Up

    portal 2
It's finally warming up in New York. Of course, now that I typed that, I've jinxed us for another week of 45-degree gray skies and perma-drizzle, because the weather here's sadistic. Sigh. So I'd better catch you up quickly, because I want to do as little sitting-inside-typing as possible.

While it was raining I finished watching Twin Peaks and started playing Portal 2. Early opinion, besides the obvious "it's awesome", is that the people who complain about its length are probably trying to wolf it down too fast. You can play Portal 1 in one sitting, but this one's meant to be done in small bites, I think. Besides, it's not like I can rush into co-op while PSN is still down.

I also wrote an article about procrastination and one about escapism over at Thought Catalog, being something of an expert on both of these. I also talked to Randy from Gearbox about games as art. Ha, I mean, I actually kind of did, but we're more talking about the sophistication of content in an evolving landscape blah blah blah no don't go away.

    Crysis 2: You are here

There's a moment in Crysis 2 when a massive explosion separates you from the Marine unit you've been assisting. The fight continues, but, unusually for a video game, it continues without you. From the the distance you hear gunshots echoing off the skyscrapers, the thumping artillery occluded by steel and concrete. The smoke has drifted into the air above you, and the reflection of the streetlights casts an orange veil over the street. If not for the barely perceptible sounds of battle, you might think you were the last person in New York left alive.

Unreality intrudes. An objective pops up onscreen. REJOIN THE MARINES.* A blue arrow on your HUD leaves no question about where they are. And your surroundings, which are nothing more than a long, narrow street with no doorways, leave no doubt about how to get there. You had no control over the explosion that stranded you here, and you have barely more control over how to return to the action. You need only to hold down the left stick in the right direction.

This is standard videogame stuff. You can bemoan the lack of player agency, especially in a game whose stated goal is to let you choose your tactics for every scenario. You can resist such heavy-handed design, and run around in circles, jump up and down, fire your weapon into the air. You know that you'll hear the same faint sounds of combat for as long as you stand still, and that the battle isn't really happening. The Marines will live or die based upon whether you show up, yes -- but, like Schrodinger's cat, they will be alive and dead, firing at their enemies in perpetuity, until you cross the invisible checkpoint that springs open the box.

Ironically, though, you do have a choice here. You can engage the game as it asks you to do. You can play with urgency. You can run toward the firefight. If you do this -- if you watch how the smoke intensifies the closer you get, and listen to how the gunfire and shouts grow ever louder and more desperate -- then you will find something very strange happening. You will find that you are sprinting through the streets of New York, about to throw yourself in danger, because you know you are the only one who can help.

Crysis 2 has its issues. But for that one moment at least, when I wasn't blowing up helicopters, wasn't skulking around invisibly, wasn't even firing my gun, it grabbed me and said: You are here. And I believed it.

    *Or something like that.

The Legend of Zelda: A Short History

The Legend of Zelda series is always about the same basic thing; a young boy, Link is called upon to accomplish a quest that his name sake, the great hero of Hyrule (at some unspecified time in the past) undertook. Said quest usually involves being tossed randomly into a situation of battle (often times as a young child) only to meet the princess of the realm, Zelda and uncover a plot by Ganondorf to take over and destroy the realm by getting his hands on the Triforce, an ancient remnant of Hyrule's Goddesses. Link always kicks enormous amounts of ass and becomes the great hero of the realm. The story's usually the same, with whatever goofy humor Miyamoto decides to throw in there and the few variations of gameplay.

And the gameplay is the key to all the Zelda games. The famous dungeons, usually 7-10 of them throughout the game, are notoriously well crafted, difficult without being impossible and almost always incredible beautiful. The time and energy put into the Zelda games usually produces lavish, monstrous games that rewrite how the genre is played. And that is why it's the greatest franchise of all time.

    Possible Trailer Description

It seems that working at a theatre just might havea few benefits as ElectricPrada09 provides a description of the first theatrical trailer for Transformers: Dark of the Moon . While there have been fake descriptions before, this one has the benefit of being proven true or false in trust a few days when the trailer premieres online at 7PM EST on Thursday. More DAK stuff

Some more rework, this time an Airfix 88mm and tractor, they had been sitting to one side for a while, then I found some suitable crew figures.

Also in the picture, another pair of £1 acquisitions the Matchbox sdkfz 11 and a Fujimi sdkfz 222.

    Dungeon Fighter Online

Dungeon Fighter Online is an MMORPG arcade-style PC game developed by Neople in Korea. In South Korea, it is released as Dungeon & Fighter and in Japan, as Arad Senki. Dungeon Fighter Online is extremely popular in Asia because of the PvP aspect of the game. Dungeon Fighter Online PvP Leagues have been televised in Korea and is still being televised. It was also featured in World Cyber Games 2009. Although there are various versions of Dungeon Fighter Online, in this article, we'll be focusing on Dungeon Fighter Online published by Nexon in North America.

Dungeon Fighter Online has six different classes and each of those classes has 4 subclasses each (except for Priests, which has 3 subclasses). The six classes are: Slayer, Fighter, Male Gunner, Female Gunner, Mage, and Priest. Not gonna go into too much detail so I'll just give a brief introduction to each of the classes. Slayers are melee attackers that usually use swords. They are very balanced class overall since they have good attack damage, defense, and speed. They have a lot of intricate combos that they can perform very easily. Fighters are very close-range melee attackers. They use short-ranged weapons like tonfas, boxing gloves, gauntlets, etc. Although they lack range in their attacks, they compensate that with their extremely high attack damage.

    Countdown To Trailer Shockwave Images

The trailer is set to premiere this Thursday at 7:00PM EST. As a kind of countdown to the date, Apple Trailers is premiering an image from the movie each day according to Paramount’s Marketing director Tamar Teifeld. The first one is Shockwave with a great look at his Cyclops head.

As a bonus, I have added 2 other Shockwave images being used to promote a DOTM Facebook page. The first image is the same as the one on DOTM kids books but shows more of the body while the second one is a promotional image from DOTM: The Game. I don't think it is the official FB page for the movie mostly because it is using fan provided images including bootleg Hasbro toy pics, posters created by fans (including images created for this site) along with cast and crew notes that seem incorrect. Mostly posting them because cool images. Thanks to Karimpie and Winston for Apple link and LordBerti for FB stuff.

    Top Free iPhone Games

The Apple iPhone was a revolutionary device when it was released in June of 2007, and it is still arguably the best phone on the market today. One aspect of the iPhone which is surprising to many people is the robustness of its portable gaming capabilities. With its full multi-touch display, its "accelerometer" which can detect which way the device is being held and moved, and 3D graphics, the iPhone has proven itself to be a major competitor to both Sony and Nintendo in the portable gaming market.
There are tens of thousands of free games in Apple's App Store, but most of them are either really bad, or they are merely "demo" games of a higher priced paid version. However, there are definitely some real gems if you are willing to mine for them. Here are some of the top free iPhone games to help get you started.

    1. Tap Tap Revenge II
If you've ever watched someone play Guitar Hero, then you know the basic concept of this game. Instead of a guitar, you "tap" on the screen to the beat of your favorite music. You can rack up a high score by tapping many notes in a row without missing any.

    2. Sol Free Solitaire
This is a simple solitaire game like you might find on your Windows PC. Actually, there are many solitaire games like this one on the iPhone, but Sol Free Solitaire stands head and shoulders above the rest. The graphics are clear and crisp, and the cards are extremely responsive to the touch of your finger as you drag them from pile to pile.
